James Lee Hubbard was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on December 29, 1941 to the late Sidney Lee Hubbard and Blanch Evelen Hubbard. He attended Cumberland County School. James was baptized and joined the Cornerstone Baptist Church at an early age. He departed this life on March 20, 2011 at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA.

In 1968, he moved to Orange, NJ and was employed by the City of New Jersey for several years. Later he returned back to Cumberland County and worked passionately at Stackhouse as an underground foreman for over 20 years.

James was a very affectionate, kind and outgoing person. He loved to give hugs, wet kisses, and never failed to say “I Love You” whenever in his presence of family.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 29 years Estelle T. Hubbard of Farmville, VA. Children, Yvonne Walker (Perry), Shelia Edmonds (Terence), and Gail Hubbard of Farmville, VA, Benjamin Hubbard (Vivian) of Raleigh, NC, Clinton Hubbard of NJ, Lionel Hubbard (Donna) Cumberland, VA., Lillie Renee Hubbard of Richmond, VA., Floyd Scott of Meherrin, VA., and Vonnie Perkins of Farmville. Funeral Services for James L. Hubbard, age 69, of Farmville, will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM from Cornerstone Baptist Church of Cumberland, with Interment in Church Cemetery. Remains will lie at the Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until hour of Services. Public viewing will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The Oliver and Eggleston Funeral Establishment is in charge of arrangements.
